English Toy Terrier UK Champions Roll of Honour

Breeding, rearing, training, and campaigning a show dog to achieve its UK Champion title is no mean feat. It takes time, money and commitment, together with a little luck to achieve. Since Dolly, the breeds first Champion in 1884, only another 350 ETT’s have mirrored her success and gained their titles. To put that into perspective that is a little over 2 Champions crowned per year on average.

  • Dolly, b. 1881 - the first English Toy Terrier to become a UK Champion

To become a UK Champion under current Royal Kennel Club (RKC) rules, a dog needs to compete under at RKC licensed Championship Shows where Challenge Certificates (CCs) are offered for the breed. CCs are awarded to the Best Male and Best Female i.e. to dogs that beat all others of the same sex in their breed competing on the day. For a dog to gain a UK Champion title it must win:

  • Three CCs under three different judges, with at least one CC being awarded after the age of 12 months; or
  • Two CCs (with one being awarded after the age of 12 months) and and five Reserve CCs, under seven different judges.
