THE ENGLISH TOY TERRIER (BLACK & TAN) CLUB

The Club Welfare Policy

The English Toy Terrier (Black & Tan) Club is a non-profit organisation run by volunteers and funded exclusively by voluntary donations. Offering welfare support to all English Toy Terriers in the U.K. is a key part of the constitution of The Club.

The aim of Breed Welfare:

  • To relieve the suffering of English Toy Terrier’s in need of care and attention, including those who find themselves in difficulties due to a change in their owner’s circumstances.
  • Offering both long and short term rehoming and fostering support for ETT’s throughout the U.K.

Responsibilities:

1.          ETT Club members and non – members have a moral responsibility for every English Toy Terrier they have bred for its whole life.

  • In the event of any unforeseen circumstances requiring rehoming or fostering the breeder should be prepared to take the dog back or assist in it’s re-homing.
  • The English Toy Terrier welfare team will assist wherever possible with obtaining potential new owners using all means available including social media/website posts.
  • The dog’s current owners or breeders contact details will be given to interested persons but the arrangements for re-homing are between the current owner or the breeder and the new owner.
  • The club accepts no responsibility for any incurred expenses, as these are the responsibility of the current owner or breeder.

2.          If the breeder cannot be established or is unable to participate then the club will assist the current owner as much as practicably possible.

  • The English Toy Terrier welfare team will assist wherever possible with obtaining potential new owners using all means available including social media/website posts.
  • The dog’s current owners contact details will be given to interested persons but the arrangements for re-homing are between the current owner and the new owner.
  • The club accepts no responsibility for any incurred expenses, as these are the responsibility of the current owner.

3.          If the current owner or breeder is unable to act in the best interests of the dog due to ill health or death then the club may have to take legal responsibility for the dog. In these cases the dog should if possible be signed over to the club.

4.          The Welfare team will from time to time organise fund raising events or opportunities to bolster the welfare fund.

5.          Any donations from breeders or owners using the welfare services will go directly to the Welfare Fund.

6.          All other welfare issues are at at the discretion of the English Toy Terrier (Black & Tan) Club Committee.
