Rawdon Lee wrote several books about the UK dogs breeds in the 1880’s and 1890’s. His 1894 book on “The Modern Dogs of the UK – The Terriers” is an interesting and fascinating read. You can download the full book here. It has chapters on the now extinct White English Terrier (pages 53-68 ) and the Black & Tan Terrier (pages 69-90). Highly recommended
